The first female Geisha appeared in 1751. Before that time there were only male Geisha performers. The Geisha's performances are highly developed and considered unique. This is a stunning vintage "Geisha" from the Republic period. It's made in bone china with gold and porcelain. It was first introduced in 1912 and retired in 1949. This piece is of a stunning woman who has a biscuit face with gorgeous details. Her hair is half in a bun tied with a red string and the other half is in a long ponytail. She has a pink Japanese cherry blossom on her hair and green earrings to match her kimono. She is dressed in her traditional kimono gown. She is holding a gold piece in her right hand and a pink Japanese cherry blossom in the other. Her gown is white with a light green top that also has intrigue details of blue and green designs around her neck. The kimono has gold designs at the front of the kimono and red strings running down the kimono. All details are hand painted. The figurine is 12" H.
